Menorca en Barco
We are Laura & Nano
Our Business Philosophy
Menorca en Barco was born from an idea and a thousand dreams.
Our little adventure began with the purchase of a 7-passenger boat, La Velella, with which we soon discovered how much happiness we could bring to those who visit this part of the island. Five years later we dared to expand our navigation area by including another boat, La Olivia, to have a boat in the South and another in the North of the island and thus be able to offer our clients a more complete view of the Menorcan coast.
To this day we continue with the same idea and the same illusions and, like our small company, we have grown and matured over the years. At this moment in our life together, we highly value being able to live without haste, being able to stop and appreciate the good things that happen to us and the environment that has amazed us since we arrived in Menorca in 2007. It is because of this need to savor life with peace of mind for which we have opted since 2022 for a more leisurely excursion format, the SLOW format, and to do it with the iconic boat of Menorca, the Menorquín llaut, which is the materialization of that same idea. Our GUIULA is a llaut from the emblematic Menorcan shipyard Menorquin Yachts and combines solidity, comfort, aesthetics and the perfect type of navigation to explore and enjoy the coves of the island. It has replaced the two boats, it is our new love and we hope to share it with everyone who wants to experience this unique way of living and sailing.
Committed to environment conservation
In Menorca en Barco we are committed to environment conservation and that is why we strive to make our activities have as less environmental impact as possible. Our constant search for more eco-friendly options has given and continues giving its fruits in these years since we began this exciting adventure:
RECYCLING
If we recycle at home, why not on our boats? Selective waste separation is carried out in our two vessels, so don't hesitate to ask us to find out where each thing goes if you are not sure or do not see the containers. Keep in mind that our boats are small and we cannot have large containers so try to minimize your waste as much as possible during excursions.
ORGANIC PRODUCTS
For three years we have only used recycled garbage bags for packaging and compostable for organic. The dishwasher we use to wash dirty dishes is also biodegradable. This year we also incorporate bamboo microfiber wipes and vegetable sponges. Small actions that add up.
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
In our tours we try not only to show people nice landscapes and beaches but talk too about the value of the different ecosystems we visit and how they connect with each other.
OUR FUEL
During seasons 2017 and 2018 our two boats have been adapted to run their engines on LPG instead of petrol. The LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas), increasingly common use in the automotive industry, It is a mixture of butane and propane which considerably reduces the emission of gaseous and particle pollutants into the atmosphere compared to other traditional gasoline or diesel fuels.
This is perhaps the most important commitment we have made so far, both from the economic point of view, because it represents a major investment for which there is no support from the government or private, and because there is no practically relating in the nautical sector since it officially approved for this sector in the 2017 and we were the only company in Menorca which has opted for this technology. Its virtues included:
OUR ANTI-FOULING (Hull´s Paint)
The Antifouling is a paint that is applied in the part of the hull of the boat being submerged to avoid sticking algae and small crustaceans and worms. Traditionally it´s been used paintings that have components that are highly polluting for the marine environment and which in many cases are of doubtful effectiveness and all they do is pollute the water. Very few companies marketed ecological antifoulings due largely to demand focuses on greater effectiveness and lower cost products, Although highly polluting. Since this year we have eliminated this type of paint on the hull, so inevitably we will have to go more into the water to clean it. No problem! We love water!
OUR T-SHIRTS
Our t-shirts are 100% from organic cotton, organic farming; they contain no elements or dyes that are toxic or harmful to the skin and the environment. In addition the seals of the Fair Wear Foundation and Global Organic Textile Standard, that certifies the organic origin of cotton.

Nano
Although I was born in Madrid, I have always been linked to the sea since childhood. After completing my studies in biology was fortunate to embark on a research boat during 8 years where I actively participated in various projects of research and conservation of cetaceans and sea turtles on the Spanish coasts, several national and european research programmes..
After years working and training international volunteers I decided to turn to my career as a skipper and dive guide in the center of diving in Cala Galdana, in the balearic island of Menorca.
Four years later and after lots of hours guiding hundreds of divers under the water and tourists over it, My wife Laura and I took the step of facing a new adventure show, with our own boat, to show the charms that the coast of Menorca offers to all its visitors.
I am a lover of the sea, nature and biodiversity, enthusiastic and with a great sense of humor and will do all what is in my hand so that your tour on Board of our boat Guiula is a very rewarding experience.

Laura
I was born in Seville and I grew up in Malaga, and intense as Nano have always had a relationship with nature and the sea. My love for animals led me to study veterinary medicine and practice in clinics and for several years wildlife rehabilitation centres. I was also involved in various studies and marine research and environmental education programs.
After years investigating and taking care of animals I changed my course and focused all my efforts on what had been the second passion of my life, art. If you wish you can see my work at the following link: www.laurabenitez.com. My paintings offer a colourful and cheerful vision of everyday life that surrounds us, landscapes, people, animals, etc. always with a very personal touch and well marked Mediterranean character.
Although I am currently more focused on management of Menorca boat reservations as soon as I can I escaped to continue painting. Our t-shirts designs are the latest works I've done. Also I will be you who will answer the phone in most cases and it will provide you all the necessary information about our services.
